The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Master Laboratory Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Configuring, operating, and maintaining nonwovens process equipment
- Measuring properties of and characterizing nonwoven materials
- Collaborating with process engineers, product developers, other technicians in CRL and division laboratories
- Record keeping and communication of technical work and results and contributing to documentation of intellectual property
- Following and developing standard operating procedures
- Ordering and maintaining inventory of raw materials and equipment components
- Maintaining a safe and organized work environment
- Having the ability to lift pails, move pallets, and complete other duties as assigned
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- One (1) year technician experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Associates or Two-Year Technical program certificate in mechanical, materials, electrical, or process engineering
- Two (2) or more years of experience in nonwovens processing and/or polymer compounding and extrusion
- Two (2) or more years of experience in process or product development and commercialization using 5S, Six Sigma, SPC or similar methodologies
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and desire to excel in a highly interdisciplinary, team-oriented work environment
Work location: Maplewood, Minnesota
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic
Relocation: Is not authorized.
