Summary
The PRN Occupational Therapist provides specific occupational therapy services aimed at assisting the patient in regaining an optimal level of function in activities of daily living, functional mobility, occupational requirements, fine motor abilities, and cognitive/perceptual skills on an as-needed basis. The PRN Occupational Therapist provides individualized care based upon the needs of the patient and family. Acute care experience is preferred but willing to provide training, which may require a longer onboarding process.
Required to work at least 2 weekend days a month; more is preferred. Some weekday shifts are available.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in acute care hospital services to work on weekends.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting unless required to work weekends as denoted above.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- License Requirements: Meet all requirements of The Maryland State Board of OT Examiners and be licensed.
- Certification Requirements: Level C CPR certification for healthcare providers.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel.
- Microsoft Outlook.
- Epic (if applicable to position).
- Performance Manager/NetLearning.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
- Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Other Requirements:
- Must work 2 weekend days a month.
- Acute care rehab services: ADL treatment, therapeutic exercises, orthotic fabrication and monitoring, cognitive and perceptual activities, occupational assessment and retraining, prosthetic training.
- Must be able to type 30 WPM.
- Must have a clear understanding of medical/rehabilitation language and abbreviations.
