Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home.
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center. The Registered Nurse prescribes, coordinates, and delegates nursing care utilizing the nursing process which is integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. The Registered Nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit. The Registered Nurse is authorized to initiate restraints or seclusion and assess continuation. The Registered Nurse also assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities as required.

Qualifications
Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing preferred.
Credentials: Licensure by the Florida Board of Registered Nursing required.
Experience: Clinical experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.
Physical Requirements: Physical agility to manage patients with crisis prevention interventions. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to read, understand, and follow: policies, procedures, and written treatment plans.
- Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre-employment Drug Test.
- Must be able to interact positively with patients on a daily basis whose behavior may be challenging, uncooperative or aggressive.
- Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions;
- Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion;
- Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of Handle with Care prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 7 days of employment.
