As part of our growth, we are adding several Physician Assistants (PA) to join our practice in South Central Connecticut. We’re looking for full-time, ENT experienced Physician Assistants to provide excellent clinical care to our patients.
Primary Job Functions:
- Evaluate and treat pediatric and adult patients with a range of ENT conditions.
- Perform ENT procedures, such as fiberoptic scope exams, drainage abscesses, control of epistaxis, ear exams, biopsies, tracheostomy care and tracheostomy tube changes.
- Provide patient services under the direct supervision and responsibility of the supervising staff physicians.
- Evaluate patients in a private practice setting, obtain relevant medical history, perform a thorough ENT exam, order appropriate imaging, interpret tests and develop care plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Review and revise treatment and therapy plans as needed.
- Administer medications and/or refills according to practice and formulary protocols or upon patient-specific orders from the supervising physician.
- Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests.
- Order appropriate imaging or ancillary services as indicated.
- Initiate and coordinate patient referrals to other physicians, clinics, and healthcare facilities and community resources.
- Perform clinical procedures that have been approved by supervising physician without the presence of a supervising physician within established scope of practice guidelines.
- Complete all medical record documentation as required. Proficient with EMR systems.
- Build rapport with patients and adapt to new environments.
- Answer patient messages, calls, and triage.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned by Physician or Practice Administrator.
Qualifications and Certifications:
- Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.
- Current unencumbered licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Connecticut required.
- Must be board certified from the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) at the time of hire and maintain certification throughout employment with Align ENT & Allergy.
- Current AHA BLS.
- The physician assistant must be registered with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for scheduled II-V Controlled Substances if prescribing controlled substances.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership qualities.
Supervision:
Supervision is provided by attending physician in the Clinic, Service or Department. The supervising physician has continuing responsibility to follow the progress of the patient and to ensure that the physician assistant does not function autonomously and is responsible for all medical services provided by a Physician Assistant under his or her supervision.
