As a Surgical Technologist, you will bring your experience and passion for health care to our Surgery department!
The Operating Room (OR) has 10 suites. We care for a wide range of adult patients that require both elective and add-on emergent surgical procedures. Our surgical service lines consist of specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, urology, plastics, GYN, robotics, spines, and dentistry. We staff 24 hours Monday-Friday and have a 12-hour shift on Saturday and Sunday. Staff are required to take call in addition to regular scheduled shifts to meet patient demands.

Enjoy a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential when applicable.
Banner Baywood Medical Center is a 342-bed hospital serving the health care needs of the East Valley communities of metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. POSITION SUMMARY
This position selects and places surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery. Scrubs and provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgical procedures.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares for surgical procedures, ensures good working order of instruments, and plans ahead for surgical case needs.
2. Anticipates the surgeon's needs, passes instruments, and retracts tissue.
3. Demonstrates aseptic technique throughout the procedure, disposes of sharps and trash, and participates in counting of supplies.
4. Ensures surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
5. Assists with OR turnover, stocking, replenishing supplies, and cleaning operating rooms.
6. May provide business support and training to surgical technology staff and students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma/GED and current basic life support certification.
- Manual dexterity and ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful situations.
- Ability to be conscientious, organized, and respond quickly to surgeon and patient needs.
- Stay abreast of new developments in the field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from a certified school of surgical technology or two years of operating room experience.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
