- Organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management.
- Supervises and directs patient care in an endoscopy room.
- Organizes nursing activities efficiently and effectively.
- Delegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members.
- Considers cost containment by using supplies economically and in effective turnover time.
- Assists with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability.
- Addresses patients to the endoscopy room observing policy and procedure, safety requirements, and patient needs.
- Identifies the patient and correct procedure according to policy and procedure and communicates with all members of the surgical team.
- Reviews patients' medical record and needs to plan care with other health care team members.
- Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient.
- Maintains patient’s privacy and dignity.
- Explains procedures and care to the patient.
- Prepares room according to requirements of patient and procedure to be performed.
- Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure.
- Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient.
- Administers medication per order of physician and based on condition of patient.
- Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation, pre-procedure, during procedure, and post-procedure.
- Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordingly.
- Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician.
- Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction.
- Documents patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and procedures.
- Accurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about the patient’s status.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school graduate or GED certification.
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Registered Nurse with active license in appropriate state.
- Certification in CPR.
- IV Conscious Sedation training.
- Endoscopy experience.
- Evidence of leadership qualities.
- Strong Ethical and Moral References.
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English.
Preferred:
- Certification in ACLS.
- Ambulatory surgery center experience.
- Computer literate.
