Poultney Veterinary Hospital is seeking a full or part-time associate to join our veterinarian-owned rural companion animal practice in southwestern VT (on the NY border). We are a 2 (ready to move to 3) vet practice with a focus on client education and superior medical care of our patients. We have cultivated a wonderful client base and enjoy offering personalized care. The hospital is open 8-5 M-F and 8-12 on Saturdays (no scheduled sick animals on Saturdays).

We offer general medicine and surgery services, along with canine reproductive and behavioral services, and holistic care including acupuncture, chiropractic, and herbal medicine. Candidates are encouraged to share their special interests as well. The owner has practiced for over 20 years, has extensive teaching experience, and is excited to mentor the right candidate. Our licensed technician specialist (emergency/critical care) has worked with interns for over 20 years, providing fantastic support and animal care.

The ideal candidate will provide high-quality personalized care with a strong focus on client education and teamwork. We all get along and like each other—it matters!

We offer a 4-day work week (Saturdays split between all doctors) and believe strongly in a great work-life balance so we can enjoy our local mountains and lakes, along with the beauty and warm climate of southern VT. No on-call/emergencies as we refer to local emergency/specialty referral hospitals. The hospital has the typical amenities, including digital radiology, in-house IDEXX machines, and ultrasound. We do not offer boarding, grooming, or doggy daycare.

The benefits package includes 401K with a 3% match, health and liability insurance, paid time off, paid licensing, generous CE allowance, and pet care discount. Housing and relocation allowances are negotiable.

Responsibilities include general small animal medical appointments and basic surgery skills, including spay/neuter of dogs and cats, dental extractions, and lumpectomies. We also offer gastropexy and enucleations but no declaws or orthopedic surgeries. Absolutely must work well with a team and enjoy interacting with clients.
