Advanced Practice Provider - Thoracic Surgery - Piedmont Rockdale Hospital
Piedmont Heart Institute is currently recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Thoracic Surgery team at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital, located in Conyers, GA. This is a Monday-Friday position assisting in both Inpatient and Outpatient roles. Weekend and holiday call are involved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inpatient care responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provides direct clinical services for pre-operative, operative, and post-operative thoracic surgery within institutional guidelines and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the patients physician.
- Obtains patient health histories and complete physical examinations during admissions and consultations.
- Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patients family, and staff.
- Assist in the Operating Room with video-assisted thoracoscopy surgery (VATS), open lung, esophageal robotically-assisted thoracoscopic/laparoscopic surgeries and a variety of other procedures.
- Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic bedside procedures based upon patients clinical status.
- Ambulatory care responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assesses patient and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribes necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
- Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patients family, and staff.
- Monitors progress of patients, reports progress to supervising physician, and maintains record of each patients progress, consulting with supervising physician when patients progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.

Minimum Requirements:
Masters, Bachelors Degree from an Accredited PA program and National Board Certification
