POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Group Leader Assistant supports the Site Director by leading activities with program participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists Site Director in planning and maintaining supplies, monitoring the whereabouts of the children at all times, bringing situations which may evolve into serious problems to the attention of the Site Director immediately, reporting all injuries and filing incident reports for any incidents related to behavior, injury, etc.
- Maintain good working relationships with students, families, school personnel, and YMCA staff.
- Treats every participant fairly and equally regardless of differences, making every student feel good about themselves and encouraging a fun, positive environment.
- Maintains site in accordance with school district standards by doing such custodial duties as necessary to leave the general space, restrooms, sinks, halls, playground, etc. in clean, orderly condition.
- Utilize site iPad to ensure students are signed in and out daily in accordance with South Sound YMCA operating procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be conscientious, creative and willing to direct children and take initiative when needed.
- Must be able and willing to develop positive, authentic relationships with children and adults from diverse backgrounds.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
Upon Hire:
- South Sound YMCA New Employee Orientation must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
- CPR First Aid Training must be completed within 30 days of hire.
- 30 hours STARS training must be completed.
- MERIT Background Check and Fingerprinting.
- Must provide the following health records as indicated by licensing standards set by Washington State Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF):
- TB Test
- MMR Vaccination Records

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and talk and hear. Incumbent must be able to move freely and quickly throughout YMCA facilities; communicate effectively with people; and use a computer. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
