Job Description Summary: This position scrubs basic and advanced Operating Room procedures.
Qualifications:
- Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologist (AST) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required.
- Graduate of an approved school of Operating Room Technicians or military trained required.
- Previous hospital experience with skills in a variety of cases performed preferred.
- Current HS BLS CPR required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Possess strong customer service skills and ability to multi-task in an ever changing workload environment.
- Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
Job Specific Duties:
- Responsible for the sterility of supplies and the smooth efficient flow of the surgical procedures.
- Accurately selects all equipment and supplies needed for surgical cases.
- Assists with set up in OR Suite for specific surgeries while accurately following the preference card.
- Exhibits an excellent working knowledge of surgical asepsis and recognizes and verbalizes breaks in techniques.
- Anticipates the surgeon’s needs and reacts accordingly.
- Efficiently passes the appropriate instrumentation, sutures and supplies to surgeons and/or assistant.
- Exhibits a commitment to professionalism while undertaking and completing all departmental competencies.
- Accurately sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and solutions as needed for procedure.
- Exhibits proper usage of surgical drapes to cover patients.
- Maintains and exhibits highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
- Assists as directed in cutting sutures and keeping track of items such as sponges, needles, etc.
- Assists with the preparation and disposal of lab specimens as directed.
- Assists team members with cleaning of room. The above essential functions are representative of major duties of positions in this job classification.

Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs. Schedule: Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
