Summary:
Goldbelt Professional Services, LLC is seeking a Senior Epidemiologist to support the Influenza National Surveillance and Outbreak Team, part of the Influenza Division of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). The position will be working at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Roybal Campus in Atlanta, GA. The CDC is the nation's premier health promotion, prevention, and preparedness agency. The Senior Epidemiologist will report to Goldbelt Professional Services leadership to ensure the execution of timely, high-quality deliverables for the client.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform as a senior data manager for the large hospital influenza system.
- Compile and process data from 15 state and local health departments on a weekly basis.
- Write SAS macros, clean data, create PowerPoints, generate reports, and present data at weekly Surveillance Team meetings.
- Serve as the main data analyst on a variety of complex analytical projects.
- Support the adoption of data modernization efforts including use of REDCap APIs and Azure Databricks.
- Develop dashboards in Power BI for influenza and surveillance research to consolidate and visualize data.
Qualifications:
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges.
- Highly detailed and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Highly proficient in using various software (SAS, Python, R, SQL, etc.).
- Proficiency in SAS at a minimum.
- Ability to code Python and R is highly desired. Understanding of Azure Databricks is also desired.
- At least a basic understanding of statistical and epidemiological methods.
- Strong aptitude for processing, working with, and evaluating data from multiple sources.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Must be able to follow protocol and process based on variable searches.
- Ability to translate complex problems clearly and in nontechnical terms effectively internally and externally.
- Must be capable of working independently.
- Demonstrated ability to decipher and organize exceptionally large databases.
- Able to summarize analysis results, draw conclusions, and identify potential recommendations.
- Great judgment and decision-making, with strong analytical skills; business intuition and business acumen.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in statistics and data management working with large data sets.
- Experience with Data visualization utilizing Power BI.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.
