JOB SUMMARY
Works under supervision of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Faculty, MFM Sono Supervisor, and AP Sonographer to provide professional and high-level technical skills involving use of ultrasound in medical diagnosis and evaluation of OB/Gyn and MFM patients. Performs both clinical and/or research protocols. Aware of AIUM standards and ensures compliance.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education: Associate's Degree in Ultrasound Technology or Graduate of Accredited Sonography Program
- Experience: 2 years of experience in OB/Gyn ultrasound including 1 year of MFM ultrasound experience. Clinical training at UTSW may be considered as experience.
- Licenses and Certifications: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS Registry) Upon Hire, (BLS) certification credited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire, Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification Upon Hire, Fetal Echo (FE) required certification within 2 Years

JOB DUTIES
- General Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition and ensures that it is properly supplied for procedures.
- Demonstrates conscious effort to be good stewards of UTSW resources to ensure facility financial goals are met.
- Checks equipment and accessories to ensure proper working order and notifies appropriate personnel for repairs.
- Responds to inquiries/calls regarding procedures in a timely manner.
- Communicates problems during the shift with equipment or pending exams with appropriate staff.
- Engages in equitable distribution of clinical workloads by pre-charting in preparation for upcoming schedule.
- Participates in learning experiences with new employees and students. Works collaboratively with AP sonographer and faculty to ensure thorough documentation and imaging.
- Assists with scheduling and coordinating exams as appropriate to ensure smooth workflow.
- Performs quality controls on assigned equipment and reports issues timely.
- Attends departmental and facility meetings/classes (minimum 90% attendance).
- Completes required courses/modules/certifications by the due date.
- Performs pertinent duties in the best interest of patients, personnel and the facility as assigned.
- May be requested to do in-patient ultrasound at CUH if needed for admitted patient.
- Adheres to departmental time and attendance guidelines.
- Wears employee ID and follows dress code policy.
- As appropriate, may assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the designated supervisor.
- Participates in all regulatory compliance activities.
- Job Performance May Include:
- Monitors and trains students in all areas of current competencies.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new staff.
- Leads the work of technologists ensuring that procedures are performed according to standards.
- Pre-charts to determine scheduling balance and works with peers to adjust, as needed.
- Participates in the modality specific QA/QC program and ensures compliance with regulations.
- Participates in various accreditation processes as directed.
- Follows all policies related to patient care and clinical activities in their assigned setting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
