The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) will proactively engage with physician offices, build ongoing relationships, and provide education to healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers that enhance a patient’s progress in their healthcare journey. The CNE will work with area sales force partners to manage and grow a territory assigned to them. This role will introduce product and disease state support programs, patient education and empowerment strategies, as well as articulate the value and benefits of those programs to assigned offices. The educator will follow up continuously with offices to evaluate their offices specific, ongoing needs and gain further commitment to conduct programs. The CNE will proactively introduce and schedule trainings, utilize professional skills and clinical experience to train healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers on a new therapy prescribed for patients with ALS. The educator will provide ongoing patient support and therapy management to the patient and their caregiver/support network. The CNE will engage and communicate effectively with all VMS stakeholders to ensure successful patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for training on pre-approved curriculum to a variety of audiences including, but not limited to patients, caregivers, physicians and office staff
- Understand and encourage patient initiation and support processes and strategies that influence patient confidence to help patients stay on prescribed therapy and participate in ongoing support programs that are aligned with patient goals
- Work with caregiver/advocate to provide emotional reinforcement and reduce uncertainty of providing support to a patient with ALS
- Explain medical treatment, provide symptom management support, identify and recommend patient/caregiver resources that could include support groups, financial resources, transportation, etc.
- Develops a strategy and call plan for assigned territory aligned with territory metrics and national performance objectives
- Anticipate and address HCP needs and create an awareness and demand for educator services; collaborate with stakeholders to continue to build opportunities within client accounts
- Build relationships with healthcare providers, office staff, local nurse educators, and VMS corporate stakeholders
- Work in cooperation with sales teams to improve patient outcomes utilizing approved marketing and educational materials designed for a respective audience in an assigned territory.
- Advise on industry insights and innovative approaches to training curriculum
- Ensure all activities are conducted in a manner that is compliant with all VMS, client, and industry mandated rules and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
- Licensed healthcare professional (minimum RN) with background in chronic conditions, neurological conditions, movement disorders (ex: Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, ALS, Alzheimer’s)
- HCP and/or Patient education experience, including infusion or injection experience required
- Compassion, high emotional intelligence and a passion to be a patient advocate
- Desire to self-manage assigned territory; strong goal/metric orientation and a bias for action; comfortable devising a plan to generate activities
- Strong communication and written skills to a variety of audiences, and experience working with a treatment team
- Proven adaptability to changing business demands and problem solving in a fast paced environment
- Competent and comfortable utilizing technology, including tablets, projectors, etc.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Experience working for or contracting with pharmaceutical preferred
- Eligible to participate in federal healthcare programs or in federal procurement or non-procurement programs
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel in assigned territory, including overnight (2-3 overnights on average per week)
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license
Anticipated Salary Range: $110-115k base compensation plus targeted bonus
VMS anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from $110-115k, and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications, including education, experience, and competency for the role. Some roles may include car allowance and eligibility to earn targeted bonus based on company or individual performance.
