The Medical Technologist (MT) is responsible for the completion of the routine workload in the specimen processing and testing areas according to established laboratory policies and procedures. The exact nature of the work may vary depending upon the workload and the assigned duties.
The MT operates and calibrates all equipment in the area of specialization, evaluates the validity of laboratory data, records test results, and communicates with physicians, pathologists, and nursing staff regarding test procedures and results. This position may have shift supervisory responsibilities and works under the direction of the Director, Technical Supervisor, or Manager of Laboratory Services.
Must be Licensed:
Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license verified with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of laboratory experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
