Job Summary:
A Laboratory Supervisor's role is not only to function as a Medical Technologist but to provide leadership, serving as a role model and mentor. Laboratory results aid clinical practitioners in confirming or ruling out diagnoses, monitoring chronic disease states, and analyzing the effects of medical therapies.
Essential Core Functions:
- Uses knowledge of laboratory science to perform the most complex clinical testing as defined by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIAA '88) providing safe and effective patient care.
- Maintains strict safety and infection control techniques at all times.
- Practices, develops, and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
- Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm. Uses occurrence reporting system to report potential patient safety issues.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Laboratory Information System.
- Completes all mandatory education requirements.
- Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
- Regular, punctual, and dependable attendance.
- "Call" responsibilities.
- Ensures orientation of new staff.
- Assumes authority, accountability, and responsibility.
- Participates in cross-organizational activities.
- Formulates, reviews, and/or revises departmental policies.
- Demonstrates the ability to anticipate departmental needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience Required Years of Experience
- Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT)
- Bachelor's Degree
- Florida Licensure as Clinical Laboratory Supervisor
