Job Description:
As a regional HSEQ Specialist at Brunel, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to our mission of promoting well-being, health, and safety for all Brunel staff in the region. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across the region. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring programs and policies to ensure a safe and compliant workplace
Your will report into the Regional Director.
Next to your regional role, you will chair the Global Safety Committee, a group of dedicated and qualified regional specialists ensuring the highest quality standards.
This is a dynamic and influential part of the role that requires collaboration with regional colleagues as well as with the Executive Leadership Team, discuss and advise among other things reporting, improvement plans, and lessons learned.
Key Regional Responsibilities:

- Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Policy Development: Develop and implement regional HSEQ policies and procedures in alignment with global policies.
- Training: Conduct training sessions for employees on safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Audits and Inspections: Perform regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Incident Management: Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Reporting: Maintain records and prepare reports on HSEQ performance and compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in HSEQ practices and implement changes.
- Tenders: Review and complete HSE related tender items.
- Emergency Preparedness: Developing and testing emergency response plans to handle crises such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
- Injury Management: Guardian to the injury management process when an employee or contractor sustains an injury at work. This involves immediate response, supporting evacuation procedures providing first aid or medical assistance (where available), documenting the incident, liaising with the client, insurers, delivery team and ensuring proper reporting procedures are followed.
- Lead ISO 9001 certification efforts and ensure compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities heading the Global Safety Committee
- You will head and facilitate regular meetings with global HSEQ stakeholders to drive our mission and advise the ELT on the HSEQ agenda and action plans.
- Together with the global team you will work on:
- Implementation of Emergency response (through crisis 24)
- Ensure global policies are set up and regularly reviewed
- Ensuring global (updated) mandatory trainings
- Data registration and reporting through a safety management system (to be implemented and adopted globally)
- Promoting a culture of accurate incident reporting and safety awareness
- Embedding HSEQ practices throughout the globe
- Collaboration with our clients to ensure HSEQ compliance according to relevant guidelines and regulations.
- Site visits to diverse locations
- It’s a hybrid position with remote work available on Fridays, and our office is located in Memorial City Center, Houston.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years (8-10 years preferred) of experience in HSEQ.
- Industry experience is preferred, along with proficiency in English and experience dealing with cultural differences.
- Tertiary Education in Work Health and Safety (WHS).
- ISO 9001 Auditing qualification.
- Experience with ISO 45001 HSE Systems.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA, NEBOSH, or similar are preferred.
