Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains and implements nursing policies and procedures that reflect current standards of nursing practice, company, and facility philosophy of care and practices while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff. Monitors practices for effective implementation and achievement of results.
- Conducts resident assessments, suggesting level of needed service packages to residents and their families, as directed.
- Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage for the facility.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and application of Key Clinical Quality Indicators. Proactively monitors and implements systems to achieve and/or surpass company thresholds.
- Reviews 24-hour report from every unit daily to ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in condition, transfers, discharges, and medication errors.
- Gathers and analyzes facts, assesses situations, develops, and implements appropriate actions to investigate and resolve issues.
- Monitors and responds timely to Care and Concern program per facility policy.
- Communicates directly with residents, families, medical staff, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, and Department Heads to coordinate care and services.
- Establishes, implements, and monitors infection control program designed to provide a safe environment.
- Monitors staff for compliance with OSHA mandates on workplace safety.
- Monitors the provision of care and services to residents on all shifts and evaluates regulatory compliance efforts.
- Oversees and supervises development and delivery of in-service educational programs for nursing staff.
- Assists Wellness Director with preparation for state survey.
- Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve quality of services.
- Consults with Wellness Director daily about resident status, occupancy, budget, staffing, and other relevant issues.
- Proactively develops positive employee relations, incentive, and recognition programs.
- Ensures 24-hour availability as nursing administration resource.
- Acts in administrative capacity in absence of Wellness Director.
- Participates in all special community and agency events.
- Complies with the community's privacy practices and procedures.
- Assumes Wellness Director responsibility in the absence of the Wellness Director.
- Directly supervises Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or minimum of 2-5 years leading a care team where states allow.
- Prefer two-year professional nursing experience in a senior living care setting.
- Two-years supervisory/management experience with direct care staff.
- Some states may allow for this to be an unlicensed position (WI, TX, SC, VA).
Skill/Knowledge Requirements:
- Knowledge of current Federal and State laws and regulations that apply to practice of nursing in licensed residential care.
- Ability to apply standards of professional nursing practice in job situations.
- Ability to provide leadership and formulate operational strategies.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current Registered Nursing License or Licensed Practical Nurse, in states where required.
- Current CPR certification.
