POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Work locations including: Bridgeport Correctional Center (Bridgeport, CT) and Garner Correctional Institution (Newtown, CT)

YOUR ROLE
Psychologists within the correctional setting provide a range of clinical functions to persons in custody. The incumbent in this position will have the opportunity to work within a clinically rich setting, with opportunities to provide a mix of clinical, supervisory and administrative functions, including scheduling, staffing, clinical supervision, clinical team leadership, and a range of clinical functions including:
- Psychological testing
- Individual & group psychotherapy
- Behavior management
- Providing clinical consultative services within the facility for complex cases.
Additional opportunities to engage in collaborative care planning with external support services and research driven programming are also encouraged and available.
Psychologists at the Department of Correction work within a dynamic, fast-paced, multidisciplinary team comprised of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and APRNs, as well as medical personnel and custody staff, all sharing the common goal of providing high quality, service oriented care to the incarcerated population.

GARNER CI
The Garner Correctional Institution incarcerates both pretrial and sentenced offenders. Through proven programmatic innovation and intervention, the Garner Correctional Institution provides positive alternatives for inmates to assist in their successful reintegration into the community as productive members of society.
BRIDGEPORT CC
Bridgeport Correctional Center provides substantial programming to all inmates incarcerated at this facility. This programming is designed to assist them in the acclimation of incarcerated life and their eventual return to society as productive citizens.

This is a non-examined recruitment, open to the public. Please include all licensing credentials within your application. For current state employees, salary calculations are not necessarily comparable from one of the three branches of state government (i.e. Executive, Legislative, Judicial) to the other.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
A doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology and one (1) year of post-doctoral experience as a psychologist working under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license to practice psychology in Connecticut.
- Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a-7b(f).
- Incumbents in this class may be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in the use of American Sign Language.
- Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents in this class may be required to lift and restrain individuals or inmates; may have some exposure to communicable/infectious diseases and to risk of injury from assaultive/abusive individuals or inmates; may be exposed to disagreeable conditions.
