Successful fertility treatment requires a cohesive team of physicians, nurses, embryologists, scientists, and staff all working toward a common goal. Reproductive Partners San Diego has six physicians specialized in reproductive medicine who help each other effectively diagnose and treat patients. Many of our physicians and staff members have been together for over twenty years. Position Summary: As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting patients through the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process. You will work closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless and compassionate experience for our patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned based on operational needs.
Daily Responsibilities
- Warmly greet patients upon their arrival to the office.
- Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations.
- Participate in ultrasound follicle assessment and office exams, assisting physicians as needed.
- Participate in obtaining blood, urine, and tissue specimens.
- Provide patients with medication instruction (schedule, dosage, and administration), anticipatory guidance, clarification of physician instructions.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient electronic medical record including nAble IVF.
- Schedule patient services using nAble IVF.
- Comfort patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties; answering patients’ questions as permitted.
- Assist with office procedures, including but not limited to, embryo transfers and flexible hysteroscopies.
- Responsible for the daily housekeeping of the clinical area, including the cleaning and stocking of exam rooms and clinical areas.
- Order necessary blood work, print schedule and phlebotomy labels.
- Responsible for ordering and stocking medical supplies.
- Responsible for cleaning and sterilization of speculums and other procedure instruments.
- Distribute incoming faxes to clinical staff and file in medical records as directed.
- Prepare patient graduation certificates and MD OB letters as needed.
- Complete all daily and monthly QA/QI logs.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from other health care support personnel when appropriate.
- Initiate the emergency measures as needed when a patient emergency arises.
- Ensure operation of equipment by following manufacturer’s instructions; performs routine maintenance.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities within federal, state, city, and county guidelines.
Team Communication
Nursing Communication:
- Maintain patient charting and patient medical records.
- Accept daily assignments; assists all staff with information of area assigned.
- Cover weekends and holidays per rotating schedule.
- Attend and actively participate in staff and in-service meetings; communicates issues where appropriate.
- Accurately provide IVF Clinical Coordinators pertinent information obtained during patient appointments.
Practice Communication:
- Make referrals to other team members.
- Attend and actively participate in practice meetings; communicates issues where appropriate.
- Cooperate, interface, and work independently to assure the practice goals are achieved.
- Establish and maintain positive communications with co-workers, supervisor, physicians, and patients to promote a spirit of teamwork and cooperation in providing quality healthcare and to ensure achievement of the practice’s goals.
- Communicate unusual or unexpected results or problems to the clinical supervisor.
Confidential and Sensitive Information: Ensure the confidentiality of all patient records and care per confidentiality policy and HIPAA regulations.
Attendance/ Punctuality/ Reliability is an essential function of this position to report to work on time for your scheduled hours dependent on operational needs, ready for work; ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrive at meetings and appointments on time.
