Newtek Insurance Agency, is a retail and wholesale brokerage insurance agency licensed in all 50 states, specializing in the sale of commercial and health/benefits lines insurance products to the SMB market as well as various personal lines of insurance.
Job Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
- Complete and gather information from clients for health insurance applications for obtaining quotes and submitting to underwriting.
- Prepare Open Enrollment materials, issue to clients.
- Conduct virtual or in-person open enrollment meetings for groups.
- Issue medical cards and open enrollment materials to clients.
- Return phone calls in a timely manner as well as respond to client's emails in a timely manner.
- Document fully client's files properly by noting accounts with all phone conversations and or emails and attaching pertinent file documents. Quote health insurance on Benefix or Benefitter and/or through our General Agent.
- Renew, remarket, and offer other lines of coverage for client including, but not limited to: Dental, Vision, Short-Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Aflac and Fringe Benefits.
- Adhere to process and procedures set forth by management to ensure compliance and consistency.
- Manage enrollment and eligibility (processing enrollments and terminating employees).
- Follow up on tasks sent to the carrier or General Agent and send confirmation to the client once complete.
- Stay up to date with the Affordable Care Act and other legislation that applies to our clients.
- Maintain contact with the client base throughout the year, including regular client check-ins by phone.
- Call client 90 days prior to renewal to review the initial renewal offering over the phone and offer alternatives as directed.
- Check coverage specifics such as HRA's, FSA's and ancillary coverages.
- Update client and policy information within Benefit Point and Newtracker accurately and timely.
- Take ownership in ensuring client file, policy information and group information is accurate and up to date.
- Educate clients on the importance of compliance (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, etc.).
- Work on renewals from Renewal Calendar.
- Manage client relationships which includes but is not limited to get familiar with client's files, get quote thru incumbent carrier and remarketing account, deliver quote, gather all appropriate paperwork to enroll the group, communicate coverage terms & conditions of quotes/policies to client; working with underwriters to gain knowledge of proper coverage.
- Review Payroll, Property and Casualty coverages, Merchant Processing, Technology, Lending and/or Banking with clients during the renewal process and throughout the calendar year.
Qualifications Include But Not Limited To
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 3 yrs. of customer service in the insurance industry preferred.
- Prior Associate Customer Service Representative (ACSR) a plus.
- Active Life, Accident and Health License required.
- Good knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
- Ability to demonstrate influencing and closing skills.
- Good presentation skills.
- Comfortable with spreadsheeting proposals.
- Good knowledge of BenefitPoint a plus.
- Possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Possess a sense of urgency and ownership when dealing with clients and prospects of Newtek.
- Passion for building relationships with customers.
- Comfortable with communicating on the phone or via email.
- Ambitious and goal oriented.
- Strong work ethic with a passion for benefits.

- Proficient in Windows based computer applications (Office 365: Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, and Outlook) and internal systems such as NewTracker, Benefit Point, etc.
