Title: Chemist
Location: Fair Lawn, NJ area

Responsibilities:
- The Chemist is responsible for formulating all types of skin care, sun care, and color cosmetics.
- Provide technical support assisting sales staff and customers, attend customer visits to give presentations, and assist in training of distributors.
- Understand SESA materials and technologies and develop formulations to demonstrate the benefits and applications of these materials and technologies.
- Perform customer-focused formulation work based on sales/customer requests.
- Maintain focus on application and formulation of personal care products (color/skin).
- Create raw material applications and formulations as well as consumer end product applications and formulations.
- Create solutions for sales and customer inquiries through creativity and resourcefulness.
- Interact with the sales team and customers to provide technical assistance.
- Participate in training of distributors/customers.
- Local travel to customers and trade shows, which may involve domestic flying. International travel may be considered. Typical travel requirements are 15%. Travel amounts may fluctuate based on business need.
- Help prepare raw material and formulation kits for sales and distributors.
- Understand competitive environments in silicone and other raw material technologies and maintain awareness of industry trends.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry strongly preferred. Will consider other science-related degrees.
- 3+ years of Personal Care experience.
- Experience with color cosmetics and skin care technology.
- Read and interpret written instructions and analyze data.
- Scientific summarizing skills (experimental results and call reports).
- Knowledge of emulsion technology preferred.
- Ability to evaluate formulas, interpret results, and communicate improvements.
- Proficient with operating the following instrumentation: viscometer, pH meter, homogenizer, and microscope.
- Ability to present in a small public presentation setting.
- Function as a team member in a closely knit group.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with moderate supervision.
- Ability to wear all required PPE.
- The role routinely uses standard lab equipment such as pH meters, Viscometers, High Shear Mixer, Laboratory Vacuum, Microscope, and other instrumentation relevant to analysis including a variety of hand tools.
- Handles organic solvents, silicones, powders, volatile fluids, acids and bases, nitrogen gas.
- Works with mechanical equipment.
