GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position receives general direction of the Radiologist and supervision from Imaging Services Supervisor. The MRI Technologist performs a variety of radiologic procedures including routine and special MRI procedures within the limits of standard procedures of the Imaging Services Department. Position may have on-call responsibilities on evening/night/weekend and/or holiday shifts.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Investigates and resolves patient complaints within the unit.
- Positions, handles and performs MRI and radiologic procedures of patients per orders from the Radiologist.
- Performs general and special MRI procedures as requested.
- Assists with the quality assessment/improvement plan for department with attention to MRI services.
- Identifies and resolves problems related to equipment, patients, supplies and billing procedures.
- Performs clerical and support tasks including patient transporting and exam scheduling.
- Prepares and maintains routine department records and reports; and special and periodic reports and/or analysis.
- Works with Team Leader to coordinate Performance Improvement projects and data collection for MRI area.
- Assists supervisor(s) with budgetary reviews related to MRI needs.
- Monitors MRI processes and activities for quality of procedures and performance of staff.
- Maintains exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in order to effectively interact with all individuals.
- Maintains a professional appearance and approach.
- Responds to all inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology. Certification by the A.R.R.T.
- Valid Iowa permit to practice.
- One (1) year MRI experience, including MRI cross-training at BMC.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills. Experience with computer applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years previous experience as MRI Technologist in a hospital environment.
- Bilingual.
