POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Imaging Supervisor and the Director of Imaging Services, the mammography technologist is an experienced imaging professional trained in producing x-rays of breasts in order to locate abnormalities. They utilize specialized equipment for mammography procedures. It is important that professional training for proper equipment and positioning techniques are used to optimize a thorough understanding of all mammography processes. She must have a complete understanding of American College of Radiology and MQSA quality management processes and reports assessing quality for the department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited or registered school of Radiology Technology.
- Current registration with A.R.R.T. (American Registry of Radiology Technologist) or registration eligible.
- Certified by the Texas Department of Health.
- Currently registered or registry eligible or certified in Mammography technology.
- Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
- Certification per unit specific competency (i.e. BLS, CPI, etc.).
