Scope:
MRI Technologist responsibilities:
- Operate a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatments of pathologies.
- Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles and physics of magnetic resonance imaging.
- Select appropriate imaging techniques and protocols to complete the exam.
- Receive patients, explain method of examination, and position patient, perform IV puncture, and administer IV contrast agent when indicated.
- Independently perform and complete routine examinations.
- Meet the needs of the patient, family, and multi-disciplinary team through effective communication, coordination, and documentation ensuring safety, care, courtesy, and efficiency.
- Actively participate in quality initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient satisfaction, highest level of patient care, and workflow efficiencies.
Requirements:
- Associate Degree or equivalent from two-year College or Technical School; or one-year minimum related experience and/or training, required.
- Current ARRT (R) (MR) or NMTCB registry, required.
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, required.
- Ability to interact with people of all ages, required.
- At least one (1) year of experience as a MRI Technologist in a hospital environment, highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
