Department Description
The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC) supports multidisciplinary cancer research and care. The UCDCCC Center for Advancing Cancer Health Equity (CACHE) aims to conduct community-engaged research and interventions where multi-level approaches are used to identify and address cancer health disparities to ultimately achieve cancer health equity. To accomplish its mission, CACHE aims to align the nationally recognized efforts of UCDCCC's investigators in cancer health equity, and other relevant stakeholders within and outside UC Davis, with the UCDCCC's many resources and established infrastructure in research, community outreach and engagement, education and training, clinical care, and policy.

Responsibilities
The incumbent will support CACHE's leadership with grant applications, fund sourcing, liaising with community partners, and communications. The Program Manager will provide support with grant writing, grant management and grant reporting for the center, as well as other funding drives, to secure the center's long-term financial viability. The incumbent will function as a primary liaison and point of contact with community partner organizations, FQHCs, and other partner organizations working on research projects in partnership with the center. Similarly, the Program Manager will help design and implement a communication strategy to raise the center's visibility and ensure that center outputs, research findings, events, and other activities are disseminated through regular and social media.
Finally, the incumbent will support CACHE's research activities by helping to oversee research operations, draft research papers, cancer health equity reports, policy briefs, grant reports related to CACHE's activities, and other documents in support of advancing CACHE's mission and objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors level degree in public health/related field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Exemplary tact, diplomacy, and political sensitivity when dealing with high-level internal and external executives, clinicians, community partners, and faculty leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating research studies and health programs.
- Ability to prepare budgets for research contracts and grants, as well as coordinate the production of contracts and grants following agency guidelines.
- Knowledgeable of the research process including protocol requirements, IRB approvals and renewals, the process of informed consenting, follow-up of patients and study participants on protocol and the protection of participant data.
- Analytical skills to evaluate clinical and research information, practices, and procedures, formulate logical and objective conclusions, and make recommendations for effective solutions, strategies, and/or approaches.
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint); ability to learn how to use relevant database management systems. Knowledge of data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, STATA, R).
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing to establish and maintain good rapport with the general public, members of minority and underserved communities, researchers, community partner staff, co-workers, physicians, patients, caregivers, clinic staff, and other health care professionals.
- Experience with program marketing, including web-based pages, social media and traditional media marketing.
- Ability to travel outside of the region to meetings that may extend beyond one day.
- Full bilingual proficiency in Spanish, or other common Asian, Pacific Islander, or Indigenous North American languages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Public Health, Master of Public Policy, Master of Public Administration, Master of Clinical Research or similar education and/or comparable work experience.
- Previous experience with NIH grant management.
- Previous experience in writing and submitting NIH grant applications.
- Event organization and management experience and skills to deliver high-quality events.
