OVERVIEW:
The Clinical Services Manager - RN is responsible for ensuring that the care and services rendered to the Residents residing in the Care Center continues during off hours while Nursing Administrative staff is out of the building. The Care Center is defined as the skilled nursing facility (SNF) and the assisted living facility (ALF) at the Nebraska campus. The SNF has 80 licensed beds and the ALF has 65 apartments, of which 31 are designated for the Michael Bilirakis Memory Care Center, and licensed for a maximum of 88 Residents total. This position includes being knowledgeable of all SNF Federal and State rules and regulations of SNFs and ALF State regulations as well as standards of professional practice. Blood and body fluids exposure: Category II.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keeps confidential all information not specifically authorized to be given to others.
- Study and support the St. Mark Village Mission and Principals.
- Support the activities of the nursing department Team Members.
- Be a role model in compassionate and competent action, words, and attire.
- Direct care and services as delegated by the CC DON to assist the Residents in attaining and maintaining their highest most practicable level of well-being within reasonable expectations based on their conditions.
- Run the clinical portion of morning meeting, complete and or assure clinical risk tools, assure specialty care is provided within the standards such as dialysis and management shared with the dietary department, etc.
- Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and programs.
- Affirm appropriate staffing levels for all tours.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance Risk Management meetings and process (to include Federal five start program, quality measures, quality assurance performance improvement activities and programs, etc.).
- Follow on call communication procedure.
- Perform two sets of rounds per shift or four in a day of all four units and its Resident area’s (common areas and rooms) as well as service areas such as soiled utility rooms, medication rooms, etc.
- Assurance that the following clinical programs as specified by the DON are in place:
- New Resident Admission Review
- Accident and Incident
- Infection Control
- Ulcer Care
- Restorative Care (all ADLs to include Bowel and Bladder)
- Clinical Standards (enteral feeding, indwelling urinary catheter, contracture management, psychoactive medication management)
- Complete general processes and applications such as email, word, excel, internet for research, etc. Is expected to review emails no less than twice daily (early on in tour and prior to leaving at night).
- Willingness to learn, accept constructive criticism, and problem solving skills.
- Encourage participation such as attending and encourage your Team Members on all shifts to be in attendance to the monthly Team Member Forums (last Friday of the month at 2:00 pm), reading the monthly newsletter Village Voice for important Team Member updates and news, etc.
- Follow and direct others to follow all company policies/procedures and Team Member Handbook.
- Observes and follows safety policies and procedures.
- Observes and follows infection control policies and procedures.
- Attends all mandatory inservices as required.
- Demonstrates positive guest relations to internal and external customers.
- Team Members are required to report to their Department Director all incidents of actual or possible abuse of a Resident that they become aware of. Abuse in this respect includes, but is not limited to, verbal, sexual, physical, and/or mental abuse, corporal punishment, involuntary seclusion, neglect, and/or any misappropriation of property concerning St. Mark Village Residents. Team Members will make the report as soon as possible after they become aware of the incident of actual or possible abuse.
- May be assigned other related duties and responsibilities as required by Care Center Director of Nursing or Care Center Administrator.
WEEKEND INDEPENDENT LIVING ASSISTANCE:
- Perform Wellness Nurse responsibilities in clinic from 1:00-2:00 pm Saturday and Sunday.
- Alert the Care Center Director Of Nursing to concerns related to the Independent Living Center Residents or other known emergencies as well as Operator who will use their call down list.
- Review the Independent Living Resident 24 Hour Board for possible follow-up.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises the Nursing Department to include Charge Nurses, C.N.A.s, Medication Technicians, Restorative Nursing Assistants to assure all carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the facility’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching Team Members; addressing and resolving complaints and ANE. Responsible to use proper reporting to document and communicate Team Member grievances as need to Supervisor and Human Resources if applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Must be a registered nurse (RN) in good standing in the State of Florida; minimum three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three years previous Management experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook required.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbally and electronically. Must Possess thorough organizational skills, as well as an ability to work well with a Team.
- Knowledge of Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 and Care Planning preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents or Team Members/Managers of the facility.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must be a registered nurse (RN) in good standing in the State of Florida.
