Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse, RN, Medical Surgical is accountable for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care for patients served and collaborates with other members of the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Registered Nurse, RN, Medical Surgical practices professional nursing by utilizing the nursing process and adheres to standards set forth in the Nurse Practice Act of Pennsylvania and Grand View Health policies and procedures.
Unit Overview: The Medical Surgical unit consists of 32 beds and primarily serves post surgical and general medical patients. This Unit is a fast-paced environment that sees a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity. All of our inpatient units are exceptionally collaborative among their staff and share a common philosophy around the value of teamwork, professionalism, and excellent patient care.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department, or unit patient safety initiatives. Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
- Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
- Implements policies, procedures, and standards consistently in the performance of assigned duties.
- Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
- Displays professional commitment and supports the unit team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships.
- Fosters a healing environment for patients and families.
- Assumes responsibility and authority for establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient/family and creating an individualized plan of care and evaluates patient's response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Integrates clinical reasoning and knowledge as the foundation for decision-making.
- Balances patient's rights and organization's responsibilities in providing professional and ethical care.
Schedule: Two 12 hour shifts a week, 7:00 pm - 7:30 am, Self-Scheduling, 4 weekend shifts in 6 weeks.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Nursing Diploma, required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing, preferred. *New Graduates welcome to apply!*
Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse in PA – licensed, upon hire, required; Basic Life Support (BLS), upon hire, required.
