The Registered Nurse, RN, Orthopedics assumes the accountability and responsibility as a professional nurse for providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care for an assigned group of patients. The Registered Nurse, RN, Orthopedics is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Registered Nurse, RN, Orthopedics functions as a health team member through independent, interdependent and dependent roles within the health care system. Serving as the patient's advocate, the Registered Nurse, RN, Orthopedics assumes responsibility and accountability for nursing care for patients of various ages as defined by the department scope of service.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives. Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
- Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
- Implements policies, procedure, and standards consistently in the performance of assigned duties.
- Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
- Displays professional commitment and supports the unit team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships.
- Fosters a healing environment for patients and families.
- Assumes responsibility and authority for establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient and creating an individualized plan of care and evaluates patient's response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Integrates clinical reasoning and knowledge as the foundation for decision-making.
- Balances patient's rights and organization's responsibilities in providing professional and ethical care.
Schedule: 4 out of 4 weekend program, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Nursing Diploma minimum requirement.
Over 1 year as an acute care Registered Nurse with Orthopedic experience required.
Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse in PA – Licensed, upon hire, required. Basic Life Support (BLS), upon hire, required.
