Pediatrix Eye Care is a high volume, fast paced, specialty eye clinic, focusing on both medical and routine eye care for children and some adults. This position is in Kirkland, WA.
Location: Kirkland, Washington 98034
Schedule:
Monday – Thursday 8am – 5pm
Friday 8am - 1pm
This is a firm Full-Time position only!!!
Responsibilities
The Patient Service Associate is responsible to ensure smooth clinic, patient and billing flow by greeting and directing patients to their various appointments, preparing the daily clinic schedule and updating the physicians’ schedules, maintaining patient files and records, interfacing with the different corporate departments and by receiving and directing patient questions to appropriate people. Works as a team member to facilitate patient care and optimize the revenue.
- Handle high volume incoming calls.
- Review the charts and insurance referrals/authorizations and taking appropriate action to assure proper maximal reimbursement.
- Assist the physicians and/or administrators in all business and patient care responsibilities.
- Coordinate office communication flow.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with patients and their families.
- Greet, direct and assist large numbers of visitors.
- Ensure all patient demographic and insurance information is accurate.
- Answer telephones using correct telephone etiquette, recording legible and complete messages.
- Review patient intake information to verify insurance coverage.
- Verify patient insurance information, call for insurance authorization, and update patient details.
- Schedule new and follow-up appointments including patient testing.
- Act in a non-directive, non-judgmental manner, recognizing individuals’ opinions and beliefs.
- Bring new ideas, a positive attitude, and energy to the role.
- Maintain and record patient schedules.
- Identify and collect co-pays, deductibles and other payments.
- Reconcile patient payments received to cash box and receipt journal.
- Prepare billing sheets and ensure they contain necessary information.
- Direct billing inquiries to appropriate Regional Office.
- Ensure clinical staff submits all outpatient billing sheets daily.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Manage patient charts, including preparation, maintenance, filing, and copying.
- Assist other team members when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure all charge tickets are accounted for against patient sign-in sheets.
- Display exceptional customer service skills in responding to inquiries.
- Review charts daily for upcoming appointments to verify referral and authorization information.
- Coordinate insurance information flow with clinic sites and corporate office.
- Data entry of registration information.
- Request insurance codes as needed.
- Maintain audit logs of billings.
- Manage reception desk and telephones as needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of medical office experience preferred.
- Ability to prioritize job duties and meet deadlines.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Superior customer service and communication skills.
- Strong computer knowledge; experience preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail capabilities.

The expected pay for the position ranges from $17.31 - $30.05 per hour. The actual pay range will be computed based on years of relevant experience.
