The Neurodiagnostic Tech III (IONM) will develop, direct, and perform standard and advanced diagnostic testing procedures including, but not limited to, electroencephalograms (EEG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), Electromyograms (EMG), and evoked potentials (EP) on neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients throughout Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. This individual is an IONM Specialist and has proven competence in the performance of complex multimodality intraoperative neuromonitoring, and is able to modify monitoring techniques to accommodate a diverse variety of intraoperative situations. The primary responsibility of a Neurodiagnostic Tech Level III (IONM) is to collect and analyze, or to oversee the collection and analysis of multiple types of recordings and measurements of the electrical activity of the central and/or peripheral nervous system. The Neurodiagnostic Tech III (IONM) provides monitoring data effective in localizing anatomical structures and nervous system tissues, including sensorimotor cortex, mapping techniques, peripheral nerves, and nontumor tissue. Responsibilities extend to review and appropriate application of current developments in neurophysiological monitoring techniques and standards of practice. The Neurodiagnostic Tech III (IONM) works under 'general supervision' during all IONM procedures, which requires that the procedure is performed under the general direction and oversight of a physician/neurologist.
