Responsibilities
- Perform and monitor Radiation Oncology treatments and simulations, ensuring the accuracy of the treatment plan as developed by the physician and physics team.
- Coordinate delivery of radiation planning and radiation treatment delivery areas.
- Observe the clinical progress of the radiation oncology patient, using clinical decision-making skills to recognize and communicate any signs requiring further treatment planning intervention or procedures.
- Lead radiation therapists with the implementation of new techniques, procedures, and equipment.
- Utilize clinical decision-making skills to recognize and communicate any signs requiring further treatment planning intervention or procedures.
- Seek additional assignments when volumes are low to ensure maximum effectiveness of the department.
- Promote unity and offer support within the workgroup, between functions, and across departments to accomplish objectives.
- Contribute to containing healthcare costs by effectively utilizing supply management techniques, identifying practice protocols that do not jeopardize patient care but would minimize costs, and recommend alternative processes that streamline workflow to free up more time for direct patient care.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Completion of a two-year accredited Radiation Therapy program.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiation Therapy.
- Associate Degree or equivalent.
- ARRT registry or eligible from an accredited program.
- BLS certification required or attained within 2-months of hire.
Preferred Requirements:
- 5-years of experience as a radiation therapist.
- Clinical supervisory experience.
