Description
Summary of Job Function: Under general supervision, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care and functions in a variety of settings.
Essential Functions:
- May be asked to provide telephone and face-to-face screenings and intake interviews.
- Provides monitoring of consumers behavior, medication needs, and involvement in therapeutic intervention.
- May be required to conduct IPPs in coordination with other staff.
- Dispenses medications, ensures the appropriate storage, handling, and record keeping of same in accordance with Presteras Policies and Procedures and Physicians orders.
- Conducts discharge planning in coordination with other staff.
- Provides proper documentation, charting and record keeping, in accordance with Presteras policies and procedures.
- Reviews clients need for basic living and personal care services, formulates and amends treatment plans to reflect assessment.
- Provides weekly and monthly nursing assessments to consumers in accordance with licensure regulations.
- May provide supportive intervention groups in areas of nursing care.
- May be assigned to train staff in universal precautions & blood borne pathogens.
- May occasionally be called upon to verbally and/or physically intervene or redirect consumers exhibiting inappropriate or aggressive behavior.
- May occasionally be called upon to therapeutically restrain a client in imminent danger of harming himself/herself and/or others.
- Will perform emergency medical assessments as they arise at their program location for consumers and staff.
- May be assigned nursing supervision of unlicensed staff that has been trained to assist in administering medications (AMAP).
- Provides clinical supervision to LPNs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Specifications:
Education, Certification/License, and/or Experience
- Must possess a A.A or BA in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Must possess licensure from the WV Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses upon hire and maintain license.
- Attain/maintain certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and CPR/FA during employment.
- Requires valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation during working hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required: Must have (1) knowledge of nursing care principles, practices, and procedures; (2) knowledge of safety principles and infection control (3) and the ability to assess consumers needs and coordinate appropriate nursing care plan. Must also possess the ability to read, write reports, perform basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing), have good computer skills, and possess good verbal and written communication skills.
