This is advanced professional work in the field of mental health. This position is responsible for supervising staff and assisting the Director of Children's Services with a focus on the administration of the School Based Services Program.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Responsible for development and implementation of school-based services designed to meet the specific needs of children and their families.
- Coordinate and supervise activities of the staff of the school-based mental health services.
- Prepare reports and provide facilitation of School Based Collaborative Meetings.
- Process referrals for School Based Services and assign caseloads.
- Prepare monthly reports for School Based Services and submit in a timely manner.
- Perform the function of therapist to include children's intakes - evaluating, screening, and treatment of individuals and families who show evidence of suffering from mental disorders, emotional stress, family maladjustments, and behavior disorders.
- Provide consultations to staff and other community agencies.
- Perform Treatment Plan Reviews and approve treatment plans of clients assigned to Children's Services as well as other programs, if appropriately credentialed. Conduct administrative reviews of charts.
- Participate in training activities to increase therapeutic skills and to become more knowledgeable of methods and techniques used in the care of clients, especially children.
- Complete reports required for client records, as well as all forms and paperwork required by Carastar.
- Participate in consultation and education activities as needed, to include serving on the Children's Policy Council, the Multiple Needs Child Committees, and other community-related committees.
- Perform related work as requested by supervisor.
- Coordinate with local agencies, providers, and stakeholders for referrals.
- Responsible for ensuring program complies with AL Department of Mental Health Community Mental Health Standards, Mental Illness Community Service Contract Service Delivery manual, Medicaid Provider Manual and any other applicable state and federal laws or regulations.
- Responsible for ensuring program staff are current with required training.
- Responsible for overseeing program staff's time and productivity.
- Responsible for program operating within a defined budget.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Considerable knowledge and mastery of Microsoft programs, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Basic knowledge of psychotropic drugs, their use, misuse, desirable, and undesirable effects.
- Considerable knowledge of dynamics and pathology of human behavior, especially in children.
- Ability to utilize various treatment modalities, including individual, family, and group therapies.
- Ability and willingness to provide services and perform duties in non-traditional settings.
- Demonstrate basic awareness and use of research techniques for the purpose of program/client evaluation.
- Ability to administer and develop budgets.
- Ability to train, supervise, and motivate staff.
- Ability to use good communication skills, both written and verbal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field, plus two years progressive experience in a mental health setting with administrative and supervisory experience.
- Must be licensed or license eligible. If license eligible, must have LGSW or ALC credential within three months of hire date.
- Must meet requirements for approved Medicaid Provider status.
- Demonstrated experience in supervision of children and adolescent programs preferred.
- Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar Health's insurance carrier.
- Must maintain at least liability insurance coverage on personal vehicle.
