Job Description
Job Summary
Responsible to assist with the overall clinical supervision of the radiation department. This includes, but is not limited to: 1) oversees the delivery of safe, quality patient care; 2) provides leadership, support, organization, facilitation, problem solving and guidance to the radiation department under the supervision of the Department Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in the day to day function of the radiation therapy department by supporting clinical staff in improving patient care, troubleshooting issues and collaborating with other cancer center departments to address patient care needs.
• Assist with direct patient care, including treatment, delivery and simulations.
• Monitors and provides feedback to employees regarding productivity, teamwork, and patient care skills.
• Serves as a patient care liaison between clinical departments within and outside of the Cancer Center.
• Ensures proper staffing and coverage for the radiation therapists and dosimetrist.
• Serves as a resource to track quality measures and assist in the preauthorization and billing process.
• Helps track and develop PI projects related to radiation oncology.
• Assists Cancer Services Director in establishing new programs, policies, and operating procedures. This will include evaluation of existing programs, policies following local guidelines and radiation standards, and the evaluation of CoC accreditation standards.
• Represents Cancer Services at committee meetings and as a liaison with other departments regarding program and organization policy matters as needed.
• Assists the Cancer Services Director in the development and execution of a Cancer Services marketing plan. Assists with writing/finalizing program reports, marketing materials, announcements and correspondence.
• Ensures that effective procedures are established and followed that promote productive relationships with referral sources and managed healthcare systems in the referral.
• Assists with yearly budget activities as directed. This could include clinical objectives, capital purchases, expenses and staffing.
• Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems under the direction of the Director. Schedules and coordinates staff meetings. Approves and monitors timecards for accuracy.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree and/or minimum of 3 years of leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and leadership experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, patients, families, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to effectively present information to management, the public and/or board of directors.
Position Requirements, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• ARRT registered in radiation therapy required.
• State of Iowa Radiation Therapy permit required.
