Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000 annually, plus bonus, full benefits, and signing bonus
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the 24-hour management of the assigned unit, ensuring that patient care meets the highest standards. This role involves overseeing all components of the Emergency Room program, providing direct care to patients, and ensuring the smooth operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and direction to the nursing staff in the Emergency Department. Ensure that all staff members are performing their duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Patient Care: Oversee the delivery of patient care, ensuring that it meets the standard of care. Provide direct patient care as needed, particularly in complex or critical situations.
- Staff Development: Mentor and support the professional growth of nursing staff. Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate ongoing education and training.
- Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation. Ensure that the department is adequately staffed and that supplies are available.
- Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives within the department. Monitor patient outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance the quality of care.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those set by the Joint Commission, OSHA, and other relevant bodies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including ICU, Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, and Administration, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies and critical incidents in the Emergency Department. Provide leadership and support during crises, ensuring that patient care is maintained.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience required, with one (1) to two (2) years of progressive management experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technology. Strong clinical skills in emergency nursing.
- License/Certification: Current RN license in the State of Nevada. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
- Other: Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
- The position involves working in a hospital setting, specifically in the Emergency Department. The role requires the ability to respond quickly to emergencies and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- The Nurse Manager will be required to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24-hour coverage of the department.
Physical Requirements:
- The role involves standing and walking for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift and move patients and equipment as needed.
