Essential Functions
- Responsible for assisting the Director of Clinical Services-Behavioral Health in promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective leadership on assigned unit(s).
- Responsible for oversight of RN related duties and RN staffing.
- Responsible for oversight of CNA/MHT related duties and CNA/MHT staffing.
- Assists the Director of Clinical Services - Behavioral Health in consulting with patient/families through primary nurse request, direct family request, or direct assessment of patient/family response to hospitalization.
- Assists in assessing patient/significant other survey responses regarding nursing care and services.
- Coordinates activities and schedules, disseminates information, and promotes a positive working environment for staff, physicians, LIP's, and ancillary departments.
- Works closely with the Director of Clinical Services-Behavioral Health to hold staff accountable for following JSMC policy/procedure, CMS standards and regulations, and JC standards and regulations.
- Responsible for completing all patient chart checks as required by CMS.
- Responsible for accurately reporting physician services for billing purposes.
- Alternates on-call responsibilities with the Director of Clinical Services - Behavioral Health.
- Mentors staff and validates staff performance.
- Attends and participates in meetings/committees for process and performance improvement.
- Assists in oversight of the intake of referrals and Psychiatric Intake/Referral Assessment Worksheet.
- Must be able to act as Department Director in absence of Director of Clinical Services-Behavioral Health.
- Ability to supervise staff members who provide direct patient care.
- Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
- Practices within the scope of the license.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills.
Required Skills and Experience
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Licensed and currently registered as a professional in the state.
Required Licenses
Registered Nurse - Current state registration as RN (or eligibility to do so).
