JOB SUMMARY:
The pediatrician must have a medical doctor (MD) or doctor of osteopathy (DO) degree from a school accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, unrestricted California medical license, active DEA license, current board certification by the American Board of Pediatrics. Must have or willing to obtain current CPR Certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross prior to orientation. The Pediatrician provides primary and urgent patient care in the ambulatory clinic setting. The pediatrician evaluates children 0-19 years of age, instituting appropriate diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and referral for consultations when indicated. This position is an integral part of the health care team, which includes other physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other support staff. Must possess a valid California driver’s license. Travel required between the clinics as needed by department. Must be able to work with the Indian community, and be sensitive to the Indian Culture and its needs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties of this position shall include, but are not limited to the following:
- TECHNICAL SKILLS: Demonstrates proficiency in history taking and physical examinations of children. Accurately performs basic lab tests required for primary care. Appropriately documents all procedures in the medical records.
- DIAGNOSTIC SKILLS: Appropriately interprets historical and physical examination data to arrive at accurate diagnosis. Orders laboratory and radiology studies when necessary. Appropriately documents all findings in the medical record.
- THERAPEUTIC SKILLS: Accurately identifies and orders appropriate treatments. Appropriately documents all plans and orders in the medical record.
- HEALTH CARE GOALS: Recognizes that the health care objectives emphasize primary care, health promotion, and disease prevention. Implements these objectives in the routine care of patients.
- NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURAL SENSITIVITY: Recognizes how these values affect interactions with Native Americans in the medical setting.
- LEADERSHIP AND TEAM SKILLS: Functions as an effective member of the health care team.
- ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in Medical Department staff meetings and clinic site meetings.
- PRODUCTIVITY: Delivers patient care in a manner that is thorough and elicits patient compliance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
Education:
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Current California medical license.
- Current DEA license.
- American Board of Family Practice Certification.
- Current CPR Certification.
Experience: Two years of experience in an ambulatory care patient setting desirable.
License
Must possess a valid California driver’s license. A current DMV printout is required.
Ability To
Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
Physical Demands
Must have excellent physical and emotional health. The assignment will be carried out in a medical clinic setting. There is frequent exposure to contagious diseases. Walking and standing is frequent for long periods of time. Some sitting and lifting are required.

Job Type: Full Time
Pay: $230,000-$250,000 ($110.58-$120.19 D.O.E)
