Location: Shreveport, LA
Duties Include:
- Evaluate, Diagnose and treat patients with musculoskeletal injuries
- Medication management and adjust doses to severity of pain
- Administer trigger point injections
- Perform large joint injections
- Diagnose and treat acute, episodic or chronic pain disorders.
- Prescribe all necessary medications and decide best course of treatment.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations of patients.
- Develop and implement patient management policies and procedures
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
- Communicate with collaborating physician or specialist regarding patient care
Have an in-depth knowledge of the physiology of pain
Experience in Orthopedic, Joint, spine or interventional pain management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the state of Louisiana
- PAC degree from an accredited school or University
- Good knowledge base of musculoskeletal pathology and treatment is essential
- Must have the ability to relate to patients in chronic pain
- Must understand the difference between chronic and acute pain
- Expected to coherently explain why increased pain is not necessarily related to increased tissue damage and how deconditioning leads to increased pain and depression
Skills to perform procedures (such as nerve blocks and spinal injections)
Hours of operation:
Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
