ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reads and understands all procedures in department procedure manuals.
- Be completely familiar with all equipment and instruments used in the department once trained and competent.
- Assists in/perform weekly and monthly maintenance procedures.
- Understands all necessary functions with LIS and EMR systems.
- Must back up phlebotomist/specimen processor when necessary.
- Prepares pertinent reagents according to laboratory standard procedures.
- Performs tests as described in procedure manual, under the direction of the manager, in the time allotted.
- Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
- Performs all calibration and quality control procedures.
- Be aware of supply levels always.
- Orders supplies as directed.
- Reports patient results as instructed by the manager.
- Be able to multitask and prioritize.
- Must be flexible as assignments change.
- Keeps work area and equipment clean and organized.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner.
- Assists the manager, when so directed, in evaluation of test results.
- Assists the manager, when so directed, in trouble shooting of equipment and procedures.
- Assists the manager, when so directed, in the indoctrination and training of new personnel.
- Follows all OSHA regulations as applied to InterMed.
- Must know and abide by all personnel policies and procedures.
- Must maintain good public relations with outpatients, all staff and providers.
- Continue to work on quality improvement initiatives with manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- ASCP Certified MT (Bachelors Degree) OR ASCP Certified MLT (Associates Degree) OR HEW Certified.
- ASCP certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months from date of hire.
- Ability to perform clinical laboratory tests according to established and accepted procedures, report all tests and procedures in a timely and correct manner to the attending provider, participate in maintenance of laboratory equipment and premises, communicate problems and unusual laboratory observations to laboratory manager, and maintain appropriate skills and knowledge of laboratory medicine.
- Must be able to direct technical activities of laboratory assistants, supervise maintenance of laboratory equipment and availability of appropriate supplies and reagents, and assure regular performance and recording of quality control procedures.
SCHEDULE
Saturday 9-2, 5 hours per week.
