SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Conducts intake and initiates all necessary forms required by the program/CFS to open case. Establish participant rapport and trust and provides empathetic encouragement and support to participants. In collaboration with participant develops a family service plan focusing on child development goals and addressing reduction of stress as indicated in initial assessment. Administers child development screens. Maintains a list of collaborative contacts and community services pertinent to participant's needs. Provides information and referral services to community resources and agencies. Provides transportation as necessary. Attends case conference with other disciplines or team members. Maintains confidentiality at all times. Participates in program staff meetings, meets with supervisor on a regular basis, and attends training and other staff development activities especially on topics related to cultural/ethnic diversity, child abuse and neglect and child development/behavior management. Maintains case recording, mileage logs, and other miscellaneous reports in a timely fashion.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- High school, plus additional courses or specialized training at business or community college, or other formal training facility or program. Requires ability to understand and carry out assigned duties effectively. Knowledge needed such as stenography, office routines, elementary accounting procedures; operation of equipment such as bookkeeping and billing machines, tabulating equipment, transcription machines. Plus 1 - 4 years of experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Plus 1 - 4 years of experience. Experience in family services and early childhood education preferred.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Knowledge of the Windward community. Skills in collaborating with other disciplines and agency personnel; demonstrated interpersonal skills or experience as lay counselor.
- Organized with good time management skills.
- Ability to complete extensive and detailed paperwork requirements.
- Valid driver's license, current no-fault coverage and DAILY access to an insured vehicle.
- May require driving and transporting participants in personal vehicle throughout the island.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and use of personal vehicle to transport clients, as needed, as well as a willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
- This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPR, CPI and/or van driving training as such training is necessary to ensure ability/continued ability to perform essential functions of this job.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract-mandated.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of First Aid classes.
- Regular contact with subordinates, other departments, and persons and organizations outside the organization to supply or seek information and reports. Requires use of tact and discretion. May present data and reports at meeting.
