Job Description Summary:
The Product Assurance Group Leader will lead a multi-disciplinary group that is responsible for ensuring the integrity of Draper’s Quality Management System (QMS) and calibrated equipment. The Group Leader is the first level of quality management and requires the ability to apply sound continuous improvement and management principles for technical hands-on leadership of a group of approximately 18 technical staff with expertise in quality management and calibration and metrology.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Manage administrative details and career development for group members
- Maintain cognizance of group member activity and address issues
- Convey relevant information from management to group members
- Conduct performance evaluations of group members
- Maintain awareness of staffing requirements, write job requisitions for hiring, review and disposition incoming resumes, conduct interviews
- Hire staff, as needed, to support the group’s mission
- Manage staff tasked with calibrating measuring tools and instruments
- Manage staff tasked with maintaining the QMS
- Serve as the Lead Subject Matter Expert for the QMS
- Manage updates to the QMS, to include the QMS infrastructure and documentation
- Drive continuous improvement throughout Draper
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent ability with presenting technical material to various levels of the engineering organization and customers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
- Strong ability to supervise a team of 10-20 employees.
Education:
Requires a degree in Engineering or related discipline.
Experience:
7+ years of experience in the engineering; design, development, and management of complex systems.
