Operating Room Supervisor
Come Join Our Team as an OR Supervisor in a Rural Surgical Department!
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our surgical department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospital settings and possess a deep understanding of medical-surgical procedures.
The OR Supervisor is responsible for personnel management and coordination of nursing service activities for the scheduled working shift, in accordance with established mission and vision statements and policies of Crittenden Community Hospital to ensure quality, cost-effective patient care. He or she should work and communicate effectively with other shift supervisors and ancillary departments to promote quality and continuity of care. He or she reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for all activities, nursing care, and the execution of surgery and hospital policies of the scheduled shift.
- Makes assignments and adjusts assignments as necessary to meet special needs.
- Delegates responsibilities within the scope of personnel abilities.
- Actively anticipates the staffing needs and plans accordingly.
- Assists in direct patient care as need is identified.
- Plans and assists in patient teaching appropriate to age and educational level.
- Acts as a liaison between patient, family, and physician. Assures continuity of care.
- Adds all patient, physician, family, and/or visitor complaints in a timely manner and reports these issues appropriately to Administration.
- Acts as a liaison between physician and surgery team.
- Conducts staff meetings. Communicates changes in policy and procedures and other appropriate communication to staff. Allows feedback from staff.
- Actively assists in evaluating and formulating the policies, procedures, decisions, and solutions related to the surgery department.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Participates in performance improvement activities as assigned.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current license to practice nursing in the state of Kentucky.
- Minimum of two years nursing experience.
- BLS required.
- ACLS required.
- PALS required.
- ITLA/TNCC required.
- Demonstrates knowledge in all patient care areas.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and provides age-appropriate nursing care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Demonstrates sound supervisory and leadership skills.
- Good communication skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrates competency in clinical skills and knowledge pertinent to the practice of education of a Registered Nurse, while administering nursing care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process as appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
- Must meet state licensure educational requirements.
- Must meet all mandatory educational requirements.
