POSITION SUMMARY
CAPP/Project STAR
Sexuality Educators are responsible for facilitating evidence-based curricula and PPGNY evidence-informed curricula in English and/or Spanish to youth and young adults in schools, community-based organizations, and other youth-serving agencies throughout New York City. Sexuality Educators conduct community outreach to raise awareness of PPGNY’s broad range of services and to connect clients to services. As a part of our outreach strategy, the sexuality educators will collaborate with other educators to inform, educate, and raise awareness regarding SRH and SRJ-related topics through community pop-ups and events. Educators provide support and technical assistance for special projects within the Education Department and in partnership with other PPGNY departments and PP affiliates to help meet deliverables or engage in activities that align with PPGNY’s mission to provide education and care that is equitable and accessible education to all. Flexibility with work schedule is essential; some evenings and weekends are required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (WEIGHTED & WITH DETAIL)
Community Outreach and Facilitation (75%)
- Facilitate sexuality educational workshops and community outreach to youth in English and/or Spanish. In all activities, ensure adherence to PPGNY’s mission, values, guiding principles and maintain curriculum fidelity.
- Conduct bilingual community outreach, including, but not limited to, community events, pop-ups, tabling, fairs, school events, etc.
- Maintain community relationships by professionally representing PPGNY to community partners and connecting partners to additional programs as applicable.
- Provide linkages and/or referrals for workshop participants to health centers.
- Support the implementation of the peer education programs.
- Attend or facilitate trainings for professionals via the PPGNY Training Institute, as needed.
Program Administration (15%)
- Collect demographic, monitoring, and evaluation data from workshop and training participants; compile data appropriately and prepare submission.
- Support the program manager in ensuring data collection and submission are accurate and can be shared into data collection systems.
- Participate in Language Justice group to contribute to the creation and implementation of SRH programming and support with translating materials into Spanish.
Special Projects (5%)
- Assist and collaborate with team to execute any cross-program opportunities or overarching youth program initiatives.
- Work as a member of the Education and Training Department staff and maintain high standards of professionalism and collaboration.
- Represent the Department at selected internal and external meetings.
Other (5%)
- Stay current on research related to sexuality and reproductive health. Help to identify articles to be read by other Education and Training staff.
- Perform other educational and experience-related duties or projects as outlined by the Education Department’s annual Work Plan or as outlined in grant applications.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- 1+ years of experience providing educational workshops and presentations
- Bilingual in English and Spanish - Note: All candidates applying for this position will be required to take a language assessment as part of the interview process. This assessment is designed to evaluate your proficiency in Spanish, ensuring that you have the necessary bilingual skills to perform effectively in this role.
- Experience writing and reading in Spanish
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience working with and engaging youth
- Experience working with diverse populations and knowledge of sexual and reproductive health
- Flexible schedule.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout New York via public transportation
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability and willingness to carry or move program materials (>25lbs) to partner sites
COMPENSATION: $27.75 - $29.41 an hour

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
