Second Chance Animal Services is seeking a qualified anesthesia technician to add to our surgical team. At Second Chance, we have a fast-paced surgical center that provides top-quality care to all patients. We provide scheduled surgical services such as high-quality spay/neuter, elective surgeries (both soft tissue and orthopedic) as well as emergency surgeries during our regular business hours.
We are looking for someone who is a team player and can thrive in a fast-paced upbeat work environment. Applicants must be proficient at monitoring patients undergoing anesthesia and during surgical recovery, have complete knowledge and understanding of anesthetic drugs and drug protocols, and understand the logging of controlled substances among other skills. Applicants are preferred to have specialized in the field of veterinary anesthesia, although extensive work experience will be considered as well.
The ideal candidate should be a big team player, hardworking, organized, and willing to both learn from others as well as teach others new things.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years recent veterinary practice experience with a focus in surgery and anesthesia
- Specialty in Anesthesia (VTS) or CVT preferred but not required
- Must be flexible and adapt to new changes easily
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow directions
- You must be reliable, independent, and able to multitask
- Candidate must be positive, able to assist with case flow, support the team with challenging surgical cases, and provide training and support as appropriate

We are adding more surgery to our hospital and are seeking the right candidate for this position. We have state-of-the-art equipment, a fun team, and a very competitive salary and benefits with room for growth. Our hospital provides veterinary appointments, surgery including spay/neuter, mass removals, pyometra, foreign body surgery, dentals, and many other surgeries. We are a non-profit providing access to care for all pets in need so we can save the lives of pets. We are looking for the right candidate to join our team that loves working in surgery and can work well and collaboratively with a team.
4-day work schedule is an option. Our surgical center works weekdays, no weekend schedules. This position is in our North Brookfield hospital. However, we do have 3 other hospitals and working in one of the other locations may be an option. We have hospitals in North Brookfield, Springfield, Worcester, and Southbridge.
