The Director of Clinical Services Hospice has the responsibility and authority for the overall clinical management of the Hospice, Palliative Care, and Senior Health programs, to include inpatient and outpatient, with 24-hour responsibility and accountability. The Director is responsible for patient safety and maintaining regulatory compliance for both the inpatient and outpatient departments. The Director is responsible for collaborating with peers, managers and staff in planning, organizing, directing and monitoring the total clinical and administrative functions of the programs. Duties include the development and implementation of programs, policies, procedures, and standards of care. The Director has the authority to take immediate and appropriate action in the event of an emergency situation where there is clear and present danger that poses a threat of personal injury, or threat of damage to property or equipment. Accountable for the financial performance of the Hospice Program through monitoring of staff productivity, medication, DME management, supplies, etc. Responsible for directing and monitoring quality assessment/performance improvement activities including Hospice CAHPS patient satisfaction. Lead role in strategic planning and medical staff relations. The Director represents the program at Foundation and community events.
Education
Experience
- 3-5 years progressive nursing management experience
- 2-3 years Hospice experience
License/Registration/Certifications
- Current license or work permit to practice nursing in SC
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
Core Job Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct and evaluate operations to ensure the provision of adequate and appropriate care and services
- Directs and organizes the agency’s ongoing functions and provides oversight of the clinical managers in the design, delivery and evaluation/improvement of patient care.
- Responsible for fiscal planning, budgeting and management of operations in accordance with established fiscal parameters
- Assures that services/programs meet or exceed quality, service, and financial goals
- Designs and evaluates processes and policies/procedures to improve systems, patient care results, and quality and outcomes management across the continuum of care.
- In collaboration with clinical managers, develops and implements strategic planning to achieve the most cost-effective, efficient levels of patient care services both clinically and operationally.
- Ensure Agency is in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulatory agencies
- Recruit, employ and retain qualified personnel to maintain appropriate staffing levels
- Direct and monitor organizational performance improvement activities
