FULL TIME RN CLINICAL STAFF EDUCATOR
Our Clinical Staff Educator provides clinical staff education in Bishop Gadsden’s licensed areas. This includes planning, organizing, developing, directing, evaluating, and coordinating in-service and clinical educational programs and training in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the clinical management team. The successful candidate will have compassion for and the desire to work with the elderly.
A TYPICAL DAY:
- Assume the responsibility and accountability for the development, coordination, and evaluation of the staff educational programs in Bishop Gadsden’s licensed areas.
- Develop and manage the orientation program for newly hired clinical staff.
- Ability to manage and operate Simulation Lab to create engaging learning opportunities for nurses.
- Secure, develop, and maintain records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, etc. pertinent to educational programs.
- Maintain individual employee training records and competency checklists.
- Direct the preparation, scheduling, and selection of instructional material, equipment, and training aids, to ensure that a modern, meaningful in-service program is being provided.
- Maintain a working understanding of the Learning Management System (currently Relias), understanding how to run reports, upload BG-specific courses, and assign courses to appropriate employees.
- Adjust working hours as required to ensure all shifts are included in training.
- Assume responsibility for understanding the current state, federal, and local regulations that pertain to staff education requirements.
- Ensure that all staff working in BG’s healthcare areas complete the required training to remain compliant with regulation requirements, including skills competency evaluations.
- Communicate to staff, post notices, and promote in-service training as appropriate to support appropriate attendance.
- Perform follow-up training to staff as directed by the clinical management team.
- Collaborate with clinical management team with identifying training opportunities, developing a monthly calendar of educational opportunities.
- Ability to be on-call for Nursing team in rotation with other nursing leadership team members.
- Fulfill nursing duties as schedule dictates or as assigned.
- Foster partnerships with local schools, facilitating on-site clinical rotations.
WHAT WE NEED FROM A CANDIDATE:
- Must be a Registered Nurse licensed by the state of South Carolina and in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
- Is or willing to become CPR Certified Trainer.
- Must possess, as a minimum, Associate’s Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred.
- Must have experience in staff education/clinical training.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and in good physical health.
- Must demonstrate professionalism and competent clinical skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide training appropriate to the needs of the residents served.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
- Must be willing to seek out new methods for training and be willing to incorporate them into existing training practices.
- Must possess the ability to adjust teaching style to meet the varying needs of staff.
- Ability to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
