Overview
The Spring Mill Surgery Center, situated in Carmel, Indiana, proudly holds the distinction of being recognized by Newsweek for two consecutive years as a premier eye surgery center. Located on the north side of Indianapolis, our outpatient facility features six fully equipped, state-of-the-art operating rooms and one laser room, ensuring advanced surgical capabilities. Our skilled surgeons specialize in a variety of ophthalmology specialties. We prioritize work-life balance by offering no scheduled weekends, minimal on-call duties, and a maximum of one holiday per year.
Responsibilities
- CSTs provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Assist in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies, and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation.
- Provide assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards.
- Assist in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
- Work as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.
- Train colleagues on various skills and tasks.
- Act as a resource or mentor to colleagues with less experience.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
- Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA.
- Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
- Must be an expert in advanced technology within specialty service. Examples include lasers, robotics, navigational technology, Implantable Electronic Devices (Pacemakers, VADs, VNS), etc.
- Requires documentation of 19 Contact Hours of Continuing Education.
- Requires knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
- Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
- Requires application and completion of selected documentation for review by each region's Surgical Technologist Steering Committee as well as an interview with the committee.
- Requires a minimum of 1 year OR experience in the Skilled Technologist role or relevant experience.
