Eliot’s Behavioral Health Division provides an integrated and comprehensive network of services to adults with psychiatric disabilities that are evidence based, provide rehabilitation & hope to those in services.
Eliot is seeking an experienced Peer Specialist with outstanding support skills and experience with mental health and treatment. The chosen person will be empathetic and motivated to improve the lives of adults with mental illnesses. Our ideal candidate will be driven and able to develop lasting relationships with both the people by drawing on their own mental health experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that a minimum of 75 percent of all consumer contacts occur in the consumer’s home, a community setting, consumer workplace, or some other non-institutional setting.
- Provide side-by-side interventions to consumers that focus on problem solving, skills training, modeling behavior, optimism, and encouragement.
- Provide peer counseling and support drawing on their own experiences to validate consumers’ experiences.
- Empower persons with mental illness to exercise autonomy in all aspects of their life.
- Assist persons with identifying choices and developing skills in self-advocacy.
- Provide guidance to persons in the recovery process. Provide advocacy, support, and education during intake and transition processes across the spectrum of services and transition to independence. Assist persons with identifying personal methods of recovery from mental illness and developing self-management plans to address their experiences.
- Promote hope and empowerment through meetings and support with persons. Collaborate with the team to ensure that the person’s perspective is always included, that preferences are recognized, and that person choices are maximized.
- Participate in the development of treatment plans (TPs). Assist the person and the team in developing person-centered plans. Encourage persons to participate in developing the treatment plan by assisting them in communicating their personal recovery goals.
- Ensure that services are culturally competent, strengths-based, recovery-based, focused on rehabilitation, and inclusive of person preferences. Ensure that the person is at the center of all care and that all interventions are developed and provided in a manner consistent with person preferences.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am to 4pm with rotating 12pm-8pm shift, one weekend per month, rotating holiday shifts.

Education:
Preferred: General Equivalent Diploma, High School.
Experience:
