Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Infusion – Phoenix Children’s
The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders: Outpatient / Infusion APP. This APP position will have Outpatient Infusion Unit responsibilities for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
The APP will work with the comprehensive, multidisciplinary team helping children with childhood cancer, hematologic disorders, immunodeficiency, and immunologic diseases who receive infusions in our center. The provider is expected to understand their general medical needs, the role and side effects of infusion medications, and work closely with ordering providers to ensure safe administration of medication. You will be responsible for management of acute illness, infusion reactions, and toxicity, including facilitating transfer to a higher level of care for unstable patients. Additionally, you will be trained in outpatient procedures like bone marrow aspirates/biopsies and lumbar puncture, a part of the general care of many of our patients.
You will be responsible for entering patient care orders, outpatient prescriptions, patient and family education, and coordinating care with primary providers. Additionally, you will be a resource for the development of standard operating procedures and quality improvement projects.
Time Expectation:
Coverage is M-F from 8-5pm or until the last infusion is complete, whichever is later. This position is 9, 9-hour days in a 2-week pay period.
Job Qualifications:
- PNP, FNP, or PA-C
Board Certified and Credentialed at PCH - 2 years provider experience preferred in any of the following areas:
- Pediatric primary care
- Pediatric Acute care
- Hematology / Oncology / BMT
This position works in collaboration with the attending physicians and works within their scope of practice to provide excellent clinical care for patients. Plays a critical role in the patient family medical team. Professional who may practice in the hospital’s inpatient and/or outpatient setting.
Required Qualifications:
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association or obtained by start date.
- Current State of Arizona certification as a Nurse Practitioner OR Current State of Arizona certification as a Physician Assistant or obtained by start date.
- National board certification to match area of education OR maintain certification in National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Master’s or Doctorate degree from an Accreditation Commission for Nursing (ACEN) and/or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited graduate school of nursing in Pediatric Acute care, Pediatric primary care or Family Medicine OR Master’s degree from a nationally accredited ARC-PA program.
