About Duke Raleigh Hospital, A Campus of Duke University Hospital: Pursue your passion for caring with the Duke Raleigh Campus in Raleigh, North Carolina, which has been part of Duke Health since 1998 and has served Wake County for more than 35 years. Duke Raleigh Campus features 204 inpatient beds and offers a comprehensive array of services, including cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal, and wound healing care.
The Duke Raleigh Clinical Performance Improvement RN is an integral part of the quality-of-care team at Duke Raleigh Hospital. The role reports to the Duke Raleigh Chief Medical Officer but works in close collaboration with hospital quality leaders, including the Medical Director of Quality. The role’s primary responsibility is to lead Duke Raleigh quality improvement projects. They will continually monitor and analyze quality care metrics/data.
General Description of the Job Class
The Clinical Performance Improvement Associate conducts formal clinical and operational performance improvement engagements and consulting services with our clients. Creates strategies for clients engaging in improvement opportunities as determined by the client to achieve the identified benefits. Responsibilities include using change acceleration process tools to achieve our customers' goals and drive clinical and physician product adoption of identified solutions, implementing and building sustainment/control plans for solutions. Builds project approval and charters, works breakdown structures, schedules, dependencies, resource assignments. Tracks and analyzes task completion, risk/issues, and mitigation strategies. Reviews and interprets clinical data as relates to event reporting. Completes or manages appropriate report and dashboard documents and keeps stakeholders informed.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
- Collaborate with members of the Duke Raleigh quality team to monitor metrics of hospital quality of care.
- Collaborate with health system and other entity quality leaders to share learnings and approaches regarding quality monitoring and improvement.
- Develop and lead specific quality improvement projects to address clinical care opportunities among hospital care teams.
- Create, monitor, and share data resources which pertain to the ongoing maintenance of hospital quality of care.
- Provide specific data and project reports as needed for the quality team and for the clinical care teams in support of their quality improvement initiatives.
- Organize and facilitate quality-related meetings. Generate meeting minutes when needed.
- Participate in the Quality/Safety Tier 2 huddle under the direction of the Medical Director of Quality.
- Help draft and edit periodic quality reports for system leadership.
- Otherwise support all other efforts to support the quality of care at Duke Raleigh.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
BSN Required.
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of appropriate clinical experience. One year experience in hospital administration, performance improvement or process engineering in a healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina required. BLS required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in leading quality improvement initiatives.
- Lean management familiarity and training.
- Data analytic skills to include Excel, control charts, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation communication skills.
- Successful, data driven track record in redesign and/or implementation efforts in the areas of clinical performance improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with medical staff leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to effect change through team structures and achieve measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience influencing, managing and coaching in a matrixed organization.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
- Flexible, positive, clear interpersonal and communication skills.
- Analytical skills related to independently interpreting, preparing and analyzing data.
